Gillian Flynn’s Edgar Award-winning homage to the classic ghost story, published for the first time as a standalone
A young woman is making a living, faking it as a cut-price psychic working at Spiritual Palms (with some illegal soft-core sex work on the side). She makes a decent wage - mostly by telling people what they want to hear. But then she meets Susan Burke. Susan moved to the city one year ago with her husband and 15-year old stepson Miles. They live in a Victorian house called Carterhook Manor, built in 1893. Susan has become convinced that some malevolent spirit is inhabiting their home, and taking possession of the stepson. She has even found trickles of blood on the wall. The young woman doesn't believe in exorcism or the supernatural, but she does see an opportunity to make a lot of money. However when she enters the house for the first time, and meets Miles, she begins to feel it too, as if the very house is watching her, waiting, biding its time....

“Books may be temporary; dicks are forever.”
This is very very short short story written by Gillian Flynn, and it formerly belong to Anthology
"Rogue" edited by George R. R. Martin that was published back in the 2013 under titled "What Do You Do?". Its only consist 64 pages, and took me less than a hour to read these. I read in lightning speed like McQueen in Cars (lol). I don't know why the publisher choose to publish this short story as stand-alone book, because of Flynn's book fame? you now, two (Gone Girl & Dark Places) of three her book already adopt to big screen, and the last one (Sharp Object) will take it turn to adopt [soon] as TV Series, or because its nearly Halloween? Idk. But, I am 100% positive its because of Flynn genius work in thriller fiction. You know what? Even, in this 64 pages long, its still give me a chill, unexpected twist, and blank space at the end.

You need s'more? there's three (3) pages long contain praise for the author in this book. Lord!
you, you, you, sick people, hha!
I DIDN'T STOP giving hand jobs because I wasn't good at it. I stopped giving hand jobs because I was the best at it.
For three years, I gave the best hand job in the tristate area. The key is not overthink it. If you start worrying about technique, if you begin analyzing rhythm, and pressure, you lose the essential nature of the act. You have to mentally prepare beforehand, and then you have to stop thinking and trust your body to take over.

Its already compelling and intriguing from beginning, right?
